Shipwreck Beach, sea caves and protected turtle nesting beaches.
Zante, also called Zakynthos, is an Ionian island known for its clear blue water. Its best known sight is Navagio, or Shipwreck Beach, a cove with a rusting ship on the sand, best seen from the clifftop viewpoint above.
Boat trips from the north of the island visit the Blue Caves, where sunlight turns the water bright blue. In the south, Laganas Bay is part of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, where loggerhead turtles nest in summer.
Resorts range from busy Laganas to quieter Tsilivi, Alykes and Vasilikos, and Zante Town has a pretty waterfront square.
