VFA · Zimbabwe
One of the great natural wonders, on the Zambezi between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Victoria Falls is where the Zambezi River plunges into a narrow gorge more than a hundred metres deep, sending up spray that can be seen from miles away. Paths through the rainforest on the Zimbabwe side lead to a series of viewpoints facing the falls.
The town is an adventure centre, with white water rafting, bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge, helicopter flights and sunset cruises on the upper Zambezi. Chobe National Park in Botswana is a popular day trip for elephants.
The falls are fullest from about February to May; from June the spray eases and views are clearer.
