Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the Okavango River spreads into a maze of channels and islands in the Kalahari. Light aircraft fly from Maun to remote camps across the delta and the Moremi Game Reserve.
Days are spent on game drives, walks and in mokoro dugout canoes gliding through the reeds. Elephants, lions, leopards, hippos and hundreds of bird species live here.
The flood waters usually peak from June to August, in the dry season, which is the best time for wildlife.
