Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's busiest city and port. The Kivukoni fish market, the Kariakoo market and the National Museum give a feel for daily life, and the beaches of the Msasani peninsula and Kigamboni are close by.
Fast ferries leave the harbour for Zanzibar several times a day, and the city is a gateway to the parks of southern Tanzania. Many UK travellers come to visit family or for business.
