Granite islands and white beaches in the Indian Ocean.
The Seychelles are a group of islands north of Madagascar, famous for granite boulders, turquoise water and tropical forest. Mahé, home to the airport and the small capital Victoria, has the island's best known beaches and the Morne Seychellois mountains.
Ferries link Mahé with Praslin, where the Vallée de Mai protects the coco de mer palm and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and La Digue, where bicycles are the best way round and Anse Source d'Argent is famous for its pink granite boulders.
The calmest seas are usually in April, May, October and November, between the trade winds.
